Americans were becoming more like the British before the American Revolution
The war between France and Britain over control of large territories led to the expansion of British territories especially in North America. Even though there was some resistance, the larger population of Americans were starting to adopt the British way of life to ensure survival. The effect of British culture was felt on the land since the leaders were offered a scheme of colonial union and thereby the British government had the opportunity to open academies. Despite teaching classical languages and later science, most of the activities were conducted in the British lifestyle and hence Americans interested in education had to learn some basics of the culture. American Revolution brough change after people united against the government due to taxation without representation. The success of the Americans against their colonial led them to adopting their old ways of life even though the effects of British culture was still evident on the land.
The American Revolution benefited everyone in America
The American Revolutionary benefited most of the people despite the significant losses that were incurred. The abolishment of the colonial rule led to the elimination of slavery and hence the natives were able to possess the basic human rights, property and liberty. To make their colonization effective, British Empire had imposed restriction including limiting trade, and manufacturing. Therefore, the revolution did not only benefit the citizens but also the country as new markets and trade relationships were opened. Additionally, even the blacks benefited since when the Americans won the war, they were freed to states such as Canada where their freedom was guaranteed. On the other hand, though to a small percentage, the Revolution did not impact the lives of some blacks since they remained slaves and hence did not have any right.
The Founders valued individual liberty above all else.
Individual liberty was not among the most valued items after American Revolution. Though to some extent people had their freedom, the revolution led to development of a political government and a constitution. Most of those in government focused on rebuilding the initial American culture rather than individual liberty. Additionally, for success laws had to be imposed strictly and hence some felt like they were still under the colonial rule. Notably, most of the blacks who did not abandon their masters wee still treated as slaves in most states despite the revolution. Even though the women served a patriotic cause during the war, American Revolution did not result to civic equality and hence they were still viewed as inferiors to men and their representation in the formed political system was very low.
Freedom for African Americans in the early republic meant nothing more than freedom from slavery
It is true that freedom from slavery was the only way in which African American would receive their liberation. Due to the cruelty of the environment whereby they were treated like objects that were meant to only serve their masters, most felt that the only way to attain their freedom was through abolishment of slavery. Additionally, it is evident that despite receiving all basic need from their master most of the slaves were not contented without freedom. After the British Empire promised to offer freedom to all those who abandon their master to work with their government, almost 100000 slaves deserted their master. Additionally, after American revolution most opt to leave the states that did not guarantee their freedom. This indicates that freedom is a necessity that should be treated as a basic need as it allows change through exchange of ideas.
